The other day we went grocery shopping at Walmart. The whole time the kids were asking to go see the fishes. So after filling our cart with our long list of groceries we made our way back to the fish tanks.
Once we got there Luke spotted a skeleton head that goes in a fish tank. He loves skeletons and has seen this before and has been wanting this for awhile, he thinks it is so neat. We had been trying to decide on something he had been working on earning with his good boy chart, so he decided he wanted the skull for his fish tank. Even though it was kind of creepy looking and I was afraid it would take up the whole fish tank I agreed that he could get it if it was what he really wanted.
But then I saw a cute sunken pirate ship, so I pointed that out to Luke and how the ship would be really cool too, when out the corner of my eye I could see that Halle had grabbed something off the shelf and had it in her hands. I turned to my side to see that it was a jar of some sort of fish food. Before I had a chance to do anything she quickly twisted the jar open and shoved a handful of whatever was in the jar into her mouth. I quickly took the jar away from her and turned it around to read the label: dried crickets! Yuck!!!
After the scramble of trying to get her to spit the runchy little things from her mouth Luke still wanted the skeleton head. We had caused so much ruckus with the crickets and I didn't have the energy to try to tell Luke he had to wait to get the skeleton head till later, so I just gave in and got him the skeleton head!
Even though it does take up a lot of room in the tank, Nemo and Rudolph (our fish) seem to like it. And Luke and Halle think it's great.
