Easter weekend...a weekend of firsts!

Right now Luke is taking a nap so I may have a little time to write! Last weekend was Easter weekend so we went down to St. George. It has become a tradition that we spend Easter down there, and it’s so nice because it’s usually still cold up in Salt Lake but warm down there! It’s great to escape to the warmer weather and hang out by the pool and in the sun. Cory’s mom’s side of the family always goes down there too so it’s a full house.

We had a good time. Luke is at a nice age where he is big enough now that I don’t worry about him quite as much because he just seems more sturdy and not so fragile now. Also, the weather is warming up and there isn’t so much sickness going around so I wasn’t as worried about having him down there around all those people. It was nice because everyone loves holding him so he got all the attention in the world being passed around back and forth with cousins, aunts, etc. and they all love to hold him. Everyone says he’s so cute…and he really is! I decided he really is the cutest little baby I have ever seen! I think every parent probably thinks their baby is the cutest, but I swear mine really is! Cory thinks so too, it was funny because the other day he was saying…"I really think we should think about getting Luke an agent so he can become a baby model”…and he was dead serious. I laughed and said we don’t need Luke to be a baby model! It was funny. Yeah, we aren’t biased about our child AT ALL.

Saturday we took Luke in the pool for his first time. He loves the bath lately so I was excited to have him go in the pool. I got him a little floaty seat thing that has a seat and a turtle head, it’s pretty cute. I got him baby sunscreen and little blue swim trunks. Cory got in the pool with him and Luke didn’t quite know what to think. I think it was a little colder than what he is used to. He was good for about 5 minutes and then got upset and wanted out, which was fine. I thought it was good that he lasted that long! I took him inside and put him in a warm bath to calm him down, and he loved that.

Easter morning was lots of fun. He’s only two months old and holidays are already so much more fun with him! Kids are what most holidays are all about and before we had kids I always thought it would be so much fun once we did have kids.

Luke is really starting to smile a lot and making a lot of oohs and ahhs and cooing noises. I love it. Right after I feed him and finish nursing he is usually in the best mood and can’t stop smiling and making little noises. It’s so cute. My mom was doing patty cake with him and discovered he really likes that. So just the past day or so I have been doing that with him and he really likes it. He really likes his mobile and is starting to like his little swing. He is so much fun and we just love him so much!

A couple Luke stories

The other day I was getting together with some friends and bringing Luke along to see them, so I thought I'd get him all dressed up in this cute little outfit he hasn't worn yet. When we're at home I usually just have him wear little onsies and other comfy clothes because I figure he's more cozy and comfortable that way. So I thought now was a good time to have him wear this outfit...getting together with friends, and get him all dressed up looking cute! But of course once I had already left the house he peed threw his diaper and got the little overall outfit all wet! Luckily I brought some jammies in case that happened (it's not the first time!) and changed him into those. So much for the cute outfit! At least I got some pictures of him in it first...

Yesterday was Luke's 2 month pediatritian appointment, and he had to get shots! No fun at all for him or me! The first thing the nurse gave him was actually mouth drops and he's so funny about having anything in his mouth other than when he is nursing. He gags and trys coughing stuff up. So when the nurse gave him the drops he got all mad and starting trying to spit it up and gagging and holding his breath, coughing, the whole bit. She was laughing so hard and said she has never seen a baby that little make such a big deal out of drops! She called him a dramatic little thing! It's funny because he's usually pretty even tempered, but not when it comes to things in his mouth, he won't even take a binki (I'm working on that one). So after the drops came the shots...like I said, not fun. Luke was so sad and it made me so sad! At least we have that over with for a little while. Here's a picture I took of Luke right before going to the doctor's. It looks like he knows what's coming!

Two months old!

Today our little Luke is two months old. I can hardly believe it! In some ways it seems like we just barely brought him home from the hospital, but then I can hardly remember what life was like without him! We are so in love with this little guy and are so grateful to have him. He has brought us so much happiness and he is just so much fun! We love you Luke!

Here is Luke last night...this is his favorite thing right now, to be held up high in the air. We joke around that he likes to be tallest man in the room! He loves it! I guess this one isn't afraid of heights. :) He is smiling more and more and it's the cutest thing.

Kisses for our boy!

You can kind of see it in this picture, but he raises one eyebrow and kind of gets this serious thoughtful look. It's pretty funny.

Luke is smiling and starting to make little oooo and ahhh sounds. It’s so cute. We get so excited with every little move and new thing he does. I really can’t get enough of his cute little smile. He opens his mouth wide when he’s starting to smile and then it turns into a big smile. When he was first learning to smile he would be trying to smile but sometimes he would just open his mouth really wide and it would slowly turn into a smile. But now he smiles normal and also still does that big wide open smile, it’s so cute. Right now he is really enjoying his mobile. He will sit in his crib and watch it go around and around, if he’s in a good mood it can buy me 10 or 15 minutes of cleaning up around the house or something!

Luke loves to be held. I can’t put him down very often, he doesn’t like it! It’s really nice that he is older now and a little sturdier because lately I’ve just been carrying him on my hip around the house and he loves it. He loves to be looking out so he can see what is going on and look at the things around him. He is not a happy camper if I put him down on the floor on a blanket. Once in awhile he will be okay for a couple minutes doing that but usually he just gets mad and starts crying! I’m not sure if it’s because he’s a little spoiled because he’s the first kid and also the first grandchild on both sides so he gets held a lot, or if he is just a baby that likes to be held! Either way I am okay with it. I’m starting to get pretty good at doing things one handed. I’m sure as he gets a little older and can start playing with toys he’ll be able to entertain himself more too. He also loves being held up high in the air, the higher the better.

We are constantly amazed by how much he is growing and learning, and really just how dang cute he is! He is so much fun and we feel so blessed to have him.

Another sunny weekend in St. George

We took off to St. George again last weekend. We actually drove down with Cory's grandparents Bob and Lee and some of his cousins in Bob and Lee's motorhome which was fun. We ended up spending most the weekend in Vegas where we watched one of Cory's cousins play in a softball tournament. We went down to Vegas Friday and stayed all day Saturday. We did some shopping and hung out at the games...it was a fun little weekend getaway. Luke visited his first mall and first restaurant His first resturaunt was the Cheesecake Factory...not a bad way to start off if you ask me!

At the outdoor shopping mall in Vegas

Silly guy

Smiles with Grandpa Ferguson

How fast his little happy face can change...this is his classic sad face. He sicks out his bottom lip for a minute, kind of looking like he is deciding if he wants to cry or not, and then he starts wailing! He is so funny, he has a really distinct cry and he literally sounds like he's saying "waaaahhh" when he cries.

The two babies. I call it "the two babies" because it's our baby and Cory's cousins dog who's name is actually Baby.

Me and my boy shopping - he's all cozy in the stroller!

Sleepy heads!

Cory took this picture the other morning while me and Luke were taking a nap together. I really don't do it very often, but sometimes I just love having him in my bed so I can snuggle up with him while we both fall asleep and take a little snoozer!
