It's a...

Today we had our ultrasound and we found out what we are having....it's a....GIRL! We are so excited! I think it will be so great to have one of each and I know Luke will be such a great big brother to his little sister. I have to say I had a feeling it was a girl but I didn't want to say for sure because you never know, I mean I had a 50/50 chance, but this pregnancy has been different in a lot of ways so I thought we might just have a little girl on the way.

Here are some pictures from the ultrasound. We were on a cool 3D machine but our little chicita wouldn't cooperate and hold still in a pose so the 3D didn't really work out this time around. But we got some good profile pics. We pulled out our pictures from Luke's ultrasound and we swear their little profiles look so much alike!

California

We were lucky to get to go on a trip down to California last week with Cory's family. Cory's little sister Jamie had a cheer competition at the Disneyland Convention Center, so at kind of last minute Cory and his dad decided the family should take a trip down there. We flew down Wednesday night and met his family in LA and went to Anaheim from there.

Luke had his first plane ride being old enough to realize what was going on (he went on a plane last year when we went to California with my family but he was little enough that he slept most the way). The plane went much better than I anticipated with Luke! I don't know if that was due to all the fruit snacks, string cheese, and juice I kept pumping him full of or the millions of books I packed in my diaper bag. But somehow we made it through both ways with no major tantrums or crying sessions.

Luke went on a few rides at Disney - Small World, Winnie the Pooh, the train around Disneyland, and he had fun on them. I think he's still a little young to really get the rides but he loved just being at the park and watching all the kids and people and action as much as anything.

Saturday we went to an outdoor mall. There were a ton of dogs there and Luke was in heaven seeing and petting all the dogs. We got ice cream and Luke loved it and gobbled it right up. Then later that night we went to the beach and walked around right at sunset, it was really pretty.

Playing in the snow

Luke LOVES playing outside. He could run around outside for hours and be content. He loves it so much that we have to be very careful when saying the "o" word (outside) around him because if we let it slip without actually wanting to take him outside (because it is freezing!) he will walk to the door and cry until one of us takes him out or until we let him cry it out of his system. I am just counting down the days until the warm weather is back. But for now, we have snow again. So today we were walking from the house to our car to go to the store and he really wanted out of my arms and down to the ground to run around in the snow. He hasn't played in the snow much this year yet, we don't really have snow gear for him so we've kind of tried to keep him at a distance from it. But today we let him go at it for a little bit. He had lots of fun stomping around in the snow, touching it, and luckily he only fell down in it once but that didn't phase him at all. It wasn't the warmest day but it was bright and sunny so his few minutes in the snow weren't cold ones. I feel bad I didn't have his coat on, but because it was so sunny I just put his vest on thinking we were going straight from the house to the car. Oh well, he didn't seem to mind!

Captain Luke

Luke will no longer sit in little sitting place for kids by the handle of the cart at the grocery store. I always start him out there, but it doesn't last too long before he wants out. So a couple weeks ago I tried putting him in the actual cart and he discovered something very fun. He likes to be standing in the very front of the cart, holding onto it, directing where we are going. We call him captain Luke. It reminds me of a sailor on the front of a boat directing which way to go. When he is standing in the front of the cart like this life couldn't be better. He is laughing and smiling at everyone we pass. They always smile back but they are probably thinking...what is this mom doing, her kid is about to fall out of the cart. But I decided I don't care what people think. The first couple times we did this I have to admit I was a little nervous, but he holds on tight and I THINK if I had to I could dive forward quick enough and grab him if he started to topple. Hopefully I'll never have to test that.

Anyway, today while at Costco he was doing his captain thing and laughing and smiling at everyone and I couldn't help but laugh at it to myself. I happened to have my camera in my diaper bag so I pulled it out to snap a couple pics.

Pregnant!

I am pregnant! It will be fun to have two so close together. Luke and the baby will be little best friends...only 19 months apart! We will have the big ultrasound to find out if it's a boy or a girl in two weeks. There's our big news! Ferguson baby #2 is on the way!

Oh no...where did Mouse put his homework?

Luke has a new favorite book. Actually, it's more like a new favorite page in a book. We have this book about a mouse who is going to school but can't find his homework. Lukes LOVES the page that says, "Oh no, where did mouse put his homework!" And when you see the page, I bet you can guess why he likes it...

He thinks the look on the mouse's face is so funny! The first thing he does in the morning is walk over to his book basket, pull this book out, turn it to this page and walk up to us showing the mouse to us and just laughing and laughing. Then we put the book away but all day long the mouse book suddenly appears and it is always turned open to this page. The funny thing about this is Luke has no idea what homework or school is, so obviously the thing he loves about this book is the mouse, and mostly the look on the mouse's face on this page. He just smiles and laughs so hard everytime he sees it.

Deer poop...yuck!

The other day Cory took Luke out in the yard with him while he was trimming some branches on a tree. Luke was loving it outside, running around and having lots of fun. Cory was working on the tree and Luke got pretty quiet (which usually means he's getting into something he shouldn't) so he turned around to find Luke picking up a handful of deer dropplings and putting them in his mouth! Cory ran inside with him where I was and started rinsing Luke's mouth out. He took Luke back outside and about 2 minutes later came back in with the same problem...more deer poop smeared all over Luke's face. Okay, it was gross, but also pretty funny! So I grabbed the camera and followed them outside to document the third attempt. Sure enough, once outside Luke headed straight for the pile of deer poop and we let him have one last go at it for memory's sake.

Bathin with the girls

We went over to our friends Mark & Nicole's the other night for dinner. Luke has lots of fun over there because they have two little girls he can play with, one that is about 3 and one that is Luke's age. After dinner a little bit later into the night Nicole decided to give her girls a bath. Luke of course tottled his way into the bathroom and really wanted to get in, so we decided to have a bath tub party. They had a great time. Cory has been teasing Luke all week telling him he took a bath with some girls. :)

What does the doggie say?

One of my favorite things Luke does right now is when we ask him what the doggie says, he scrunches his face up and tries to say what the doggie says...only it comes out his own original version sounding more like "mrmrmrmrmr". I think it is so funny and cute the way he does it, I laugh every time. I've been trying to get a good little video of him doing it all week but this is the best one I could get without him getting distracted by the camera and trying to grab it.
