Cutest brother and sister

Luke just leaned over to Halle and said, "Halle, you are the bestest Halle that I've ever seen."
Luke is such a cute older brother to her and Halle thinks he is the greatest. I love how much they love each other and are best little friends!

March pictures

This was one day when the kids were sick. We were all exhausted! As you can see, Halle is wearing Luke's underwear over her jammies again :)

I signed Luke up for a little class at the community center called "Wee sing." They sing little songs, use props, it's really fun. I thought it would be good for Luke to be around other kids and have the interaction. The first couple classes he was shy and didn't want to leave my side but after a couple classes he was ready to join in and now he really likes it! I thought Halle would be too young to do it (the sign up sheet said for ages 2 and up) but she joined right in and started doing the actions, learning the songs, and everything. So the teacher said even though she's only one and a half I could sign her up. It's so funny watching this little tiny girl with all these older kids dance and do the actions and sing along with the kids, but she catches right on and loves it!

Doing art projects. We do lots of art projects!

The kids love riding their bikes and cars and things around in our basement!

It seems like every time Luke has a marker lately he ends up drawing all over himself. Good thing they are washable!

Luke still loves his Rudolph stuffed animal and has it and plays with it all the time.

We went bowling with Aunt Jamie. The kids love going bowling!

Luke helping Mommy make cookies!

At the Children's Museum

Finally some warm weather! Playing in Grandma Lori's backyard.

They are constantly hanging on our counter top!

"I have a baby in my tummy"

On Luke's birthday we watched the video we took the night before I had him and I showed my stomach, then it picks up right after he was born at the hospital. Luke was totally engrossed in the video and has watched it many many times since. Ever since then he has been really into talking about babies.

He also loves to pretend that he has a baby in his tummy. Sometimes he puts an actual stuffed animal in his shirt, it's usually Piglet or his "Baby Rudolph" (he has two Rudolph stuffed animals - a bigger one that sings and the smaller one which he calls "Baby Rudolph".) Or sometimes he just pretends he has a baby in his tummy and sticks it out really far when there is nothing in there. Then we have to go to the "hospital" so the baby can be born (the hospital is Mommy & Daddy's room). It's really cute, he gets really excited about it. Sometimes he'll run back to the "hospital" all by himself and then run back to me and say with big wide eyes and an excited but quiet voice, "Mommy, the baby has been born!"

Lately whenever we see babies anywhere we go both Luke and Halle zero in on them and say, "look at that baby!" Sometimes the "baby" is just as old as Halle and she is joining with Luke saying "baby! baby!" The other day Luke said, "Daddy, Mommy has a baby in her tummy!" I had to tell him that I don't yet, but maybe someday!

Luke the artist

Luke loves to color and do art projects. Everyday when Halle goes down for her nap I try to make it fun for him and we get out the markers and he colors. He loves to draw smiley faces and just the other day he started to draw them so legs coming out of the bottom. It's really cute, it looks like a smiley face with legs coming out of it.

I get him stickers and he loves to make cards for people. He'll make cards with stickers and color them for all his family members - Grandmas, Grandpas, Aunts, Uncles, etc. I can usually find stickers for the different holidays so starting with Halloween and ever since he has been into card making. He also loves playing with play dough and making animals with the playdough.

Sweet Lukey Guy

Luke is such a sweet boy. I feel like he is at a really cute, sweet age right now. He is still so innocent but he talks and has full conversations with me and says the most sincere things in the cutest way. It melts my heart everyday! Halle is really into hitting right now and we're trying to get her to stop but Luke is really good about not doing anything back to her. He just sits there and takes it! Once and awhile he will do something to get back at her when he's really tired or upset but for the most part he is very patient. He gives her lots of hugs and kisses.

Luke plays pretend

Luke rarely calls Halle by her name anymore because he likes to play pretend and Halle is usually a part of it. I'm starting to wonder if it confuses her just a little J. It all depends on who he is at the moment...or I should say who he's imagining he is.

He still loves Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer so he often pretends he is Rudolph and Halle is Clarice. Oh and I am Fireball. Every morning he has to get the red marker and draw a red nose on himself. Markers are the first thing he asks for in the morning so he can draw his red nose. So pretty much everywhere we go he has a red nose lately. I don't fight it, I figure he won't do it for forever!

Luke also likes to play Winnie the Pooh. If Luke is Pooh Bear, Halle is Piglet. I'm usually Darby (from My Friends Tigger and Pooh the Disney Show) and Daddy is Tigger. He has also declared that Grandma Lori can be Rabbit, Grandpa Sheldon can be Eeyore, and Aunt Jamie can be Kanga.

Lately he loves "The Land Before Time". I know if I hear him making a high pitched sort of screechy sound he is pretending he is Little Foot and making dinosaur noises. He likes to say he is going to the Great Valley and has to go on a whole trek to get there through a big tunnel (our hallway), climb over a mountain (our bed), and finally into his room which is the Great Valley.

Luke says the funniest things

Luke has been saying the funniest/cutest things. I have been jotting down some of them over the past month or so. Here are a few of them...

Luke came out into the kitchen on day with his blanket wrapped around his neck and said, "Mom, look at my scarf. It was way cheap, like ninety five bucks!" The night before I had been talking to my mom about a sale and how cheap things were that we had gotten, his radar ears picked up on that and before we knew it he had a "cheap" scarf.

One day Luke was helping me throw something away and I thanked him for helping me. Luke responded with, "My treasure." I wasn't sure what he meant or if I had misheard him. So I asked him what he said. He responded with, "It was my treasure, mommy." Ohhhh. He meant “My pleasure!” Such good manners...but I have to admit I didn't teach him that one. He must have learned it from a TV show or something! :)

Halle has been getting into trouble more and more lately and has decided she loves drawing on the walls, even though we have told her many times it is a "no no" and given her plenty of time outs for it. The first time she colored all over a wall it was at the bottom of the stairs and Luke was the first to discover it. I had no idea she had done it and they were both on their way down to the basement to play. Then I heard Luke say in a very calm and sincere way, "Uh oh, Halle. That is a very pretty picture you drew, but we don't color on the walls." I was cracking up, it was so cute how he said it. And I was amazed at how he worded it. I had said those same type of words to him a long time ago when he first colored on a wall back when we lived in my Grandma's basement probably about a year ago. Unlike Halle, Luke did it once or twice and after us telling him “no” and a time out he never did it again. So I really hadn't said anything like this to him since then. I couldn't believe he remembered my exact wording! It was really cute and really surprising to me how much they remember so young!

Grandma Lori says...

Luke is funny. He likes to use marker to color his nose red so he can be Rudolf (Lindsay makes sure they always have markers that can wash off easy so it will come off after he’s done).

So here is a Lukey story. Lindsay showed up one day and I had left 2 cough drops on my night stand. I saw luke hide behind the ottoman and he had something yellow in his hand that I thought was probably a cough drop. He was trying to sneakily open it. I told him that I didn’t think it would taste very good and that I thought he might choke on it so I made a bargain with him that if he gave it to me I had a yummier treat for him. He obeyed me and then he said, “Granma, you shouldn’t have left that where I could find it.” Oh my goodness, little smarty pants. He is right, of course, but I didn’t think he could articulate that so well.
