Little sister had her first birthday

Halle turned one a couple weeks ago. Her birthday was a fun day for all of us. First, in the morning my mom and I took the kids to Thanksgiving Point to see the farm animals. I wanted to do something special on her birthday and Halle and Luke love animals so this was the perfect fit. It was really fun, the kids loved it. Luke loved the animals and had fun feeding the ducks, chickens, and riding the horses.

Then we came home and got ready for Halle’s birthday party. We had dinner and then opened presents. Luke was very helpful during present opening and of course helped Halle open her presents since she is still learning :). He also helped daddy put together the horse Halle got with his tools. Also, Halle started walking on her birthday! She is really pretty good at keeping her balance until “someone” (aka big brother) runs and accidently bumps into her! He is a very good big brother and was singing Happy Birthday to her all day and also helped her learn how to hold up one finger to say she is one year old. Here are some pictures of Halle's birthday day.

Luke and the worms

The other day at my parents Jamie helped him find some worms up at her garden in my parents backyard. He kept calling them his "snakes". He collected them in a little cup and kept getting them out and playing with them, letting them crawl all over his hands. At the beginning they were wiggling all over but by the end of the night they were all limp and not moving anymore! Poor worms got played with a little too much! We went and put them "to sleep" in the garden before going home. :) He had a ball with the worms! This guy is all boy!

Coke?

Luke is obsessed with "Coke" lately. It's mostly when Cory's parents are around because he knows the diet Coke is around when Cory's dad is around, but whenever we are with them he says he wants "Coke" to drink. We usually just get him Rootbeer and tell him it is Coke to make him happy and to stop whining for it. I'm afraid he'll be in nursery or something and the leaders will ask the class to tell what they like to drink and Luke will yell out "Coke!" and the teachers will wonder what kind of parents he has! Hah!

Grandma Lori says...

Halle is walking really well now and never stops. Luke thinks she is older now, since she can walk, and that she should be able to play with him – and wrestle with him. Not good! He also likes to tease her by taking his blanket and putting it over her head, while she is standing. I’m not sure why he loves to do this, but he does and of course it makes her fall. Halle falls a lot anyway. She has had three bloody lips in the last few weeks. But they are both adorable and so much fun. I noticed this week that Halle realized she could try whining. She must have learned that from Luke. Since Lindsay got home from Lake Powell she has really been giving it to her mommy, in way of a protest: “How dare you leave me!” It’s kind of driving Lindsay nuts, and Luke has been acting up a lot too. But like my mom used to tell me when you kids were doing something that drove me nuts, “Don’t worry too much because in two weeks it will just be something else.” So true.

Grandma Lori says...

Halle had her 1st birthday party on Wednesday and she started walking (consistently) for the 1st time at her party.

For Halle’s b-day Lindsay and I took her and Luke to Thanksgiving Point to see the animals. Luke fed the ducks and rode the horsies two times and was very proud of himself for riding all by himself. However, after about an hour the kids were tired. We went to Del Taco where they made a huge mess. Lindsay was hoping Luke would take a nap on the way home, but he only slept for a minute or two before they got home and he was SO SAD. Lindsay still had to make a b-day cake so I took Luke and drove around for 45 minutes before he would fall asleep again. I’ve never seen a kid try so hard to stay awake, even while he was yawning and rubbing his eyes over and over. Strong willed child! Luke got his nap and everyone was happy for the party later. Halle, by tradition, was given her own cake and was allowed to dive into it and destroy it. She enjoyed it thoroughly.

Splish Splash!

We've been to a couple splash parks lately and the kids love it. Luke goes right and and splashes and has a fun time and Halle keeps right up with him. She loves to follow her brother around and goes right into the water after him!

Grandma Lori says...

So Luke still calls our boat the "Bobby Boat" He will say, "Can I go Bobby Boat?" because he likes to get up in the boat and play in it. He likes being on the lake as well - for a little while anyway. Did you know Cory was afraid we would not like our boat being called the Bobby Boat because it didn't sound very cool? Of course because it's our cute little grandson, we think it's adorable. However, I don't think we will be painting the name Bobby Boat on the back of the boat like I've seen people do.

I tended Luke and Halle yesterday. They are so, so cute. Yesterday I let Luke go outside and play with some water. His pants got all wet so I had to take those off to dry so he was just running around in a diaper. He too would rather be in the buff and he is perfectly capable of taking off his diaper and kept trying to, but I kept putting it on. I gave him a little talk that I don’t want pee on my floor, but when I wasn’t looking, sure enough, he took off his diaper and peed on the carpet. I think he just wanted to see what it would be like, I guess. He was tired yesterday, so minding me wasn’t first on his mind.

Luke is a good little boy. Last night Lindsay too Halle to the store with her and when they got home Luke ran up to Halle, gave her a big hug and said, “I missed you soooo much!” Lindsay and Cory have a great little family. A busy little family, but they are great.

We love corn on the cob

I had to throw in these corn pics. I don't know why but these kids chowing down on corn make me laugh. Luke loves corn and could eat it every night..

He's a climber

Today we went to the park and it had a rock climbing wall...Luke has always been a climber so it's no surprise to me he that he loved it. But I was surprised at how he could do it all by himself with no help! A little scary at first but by the end he had done it probably 15 times. He had a great time!

Daddy is 29

Daddy had a birthday. It was on a Wednesday and daddy of course had work so me and the kids met him downtown with lunch that I made and we ate outside on a bench under some trees by his work. It was really fun and I'm glad we got to spend some extra time with him on his birthday. Luke and I picked up his birthday dinner, our favorite, Cafe Rio. Luke helped me make the cake and licked the cake batter bowl. We love our daddy!
I made Luke wear a bib for cake since he was already in his jammies and I didn't want them to get messy, but he insisted daddy where one too. We only had Halle's bibs around - I just love the bib daddy ended up with...Drama Queen! Haha.
