The kids love to play in Halle's crib together. Luke loves to bounce in it and she loves it too! So much fun!

More bouncing!

We love sunny days!

And playing outside on the grass while mom snaps off a million pictures.

We had a really sunny, nice day and enjoyed playing outside. Halle is such a busy girl and has to be playing with something constantly. So I brought out a bunch of her little toys and she had a good time playing on the blanket inspecting her toys. Luke LOVES being outside. Once we are out he never wants to come in!

Spring is just around the corner...I can't wait.

Sister's first Owie

The other day Halle got her first real Owie. She was sitting up playing with toys on the ground and Luke brought over his wooden train track to set up by her. She got off balance and tipped and her head went down and scraped against the one track peice that had a sharp edge - the Sir Topham Hat railroad peice. If she would have went down on any other peice of the track I'm sure it still would have bumped her head and hurt a little but I don't think it would have left a scratch because this is the only one that has a sharp edge. Anyway, I felt bad I didn't catch her in time and Luke felt bad too. I thought it was cute that he was so concerned. All day he kept reinacting what happened - pointing to where it happened on the floor and doing a hand gesture and sound effects to show me how she tipped over, and then doing a dramatic acting out of how she cried when she went down. Here are her battle wounds...not too horrible I know but I thought it was cute how Luke cared so much.

Big boy bed and no more naps

Luke has graduated out of his crib and onto sleeping in a big boy bed. He learned how to get out of his crib and was starting to climb out a lot at night and it worried me that he would fall and hurt himself. Not only that, but Halle was ready to be in a crib and out of the pack n play she was sleeping in. I was really hesitant to move him out of the crib because I figured he would refuse to take a nap if he didn't have the obstacle of getting out of the crib in his way. But once he learned how to get out of the crib he started refusing to take a nap anyway. So on Monday we put his twin mattress on the floor to try out the big boy bed. I went and bought some Lightning McQueen sheets (from the movie "Cars" that he loves) to get him excited about his new big boy bed. He has been doing great in it and made the transition just fine. He rolls off the sides a lot at night so when I check on him throughout the night I always end up lifting him back into the bed, but he likes it and gave up the crib without a fuss at all. He is proud of his big boy bed and loves to show it to people who come over.
I'm afraid to say that the end of the crib may officially mean the end of regular naps for Luke (unless we get really lucky and he all the sudden decides he wants to do the nap thing again). The hard thing is that every afternoon he is tired and I can tell he needs a nap and if he doesn't get one come 6:00pm or so he is so tired that any little thing throws him into tantrum mode. So pretty much the only way I've been able to get him to nap is by taking him on a car ride and letting him nap while we are driving. So lately I have been planning my day around our nap-time car ride. So here he is snoozing away on our afternoon nap-drive.

Snorting and bouncing on the big ball

Aunt Tami started doing a thing with Luke where she holds him and bounces him up and down sitting on the exercise ball. He gets pretty high and loves it. He calls this "Up". This week she was doing it and all the sudden each time he would go up in the air he would let out a snort. At first I thought he was just laughing and a snort just made its way out, but then everytime he would go up he would snort. Soon Tami and I realized he was purposely snorting when he was up in the air. It was so funny to watch and we started laughing so hard our stomach's hurt. He still does this everytime and we have no idea where he got the idea to snort but he must think it is part of what he needs to do when he goes up!

One second please

I'll be in the middle of doing something with Luke or talking to him and all the sudden he'll get this serious look on his face and hold up a finger to me like he's saying "one second please", then he'll run off somewhere to do whatever it is that is that suddenly popped into his little head at the moment that is so pressing. He is very serious when he does this and I know that whatever he is off to do must be pretty important because he doesn't do it very often.

Dog or Mom?

One day I was doing something with Halle and Luke wanted me to come to where he was and he said "Mommy!" loudly to get my attention, then started smacking his lips and snapping his fingers and hitting his side, like he was calling a dog! It caught me off guard at first but after a second a knew exactly what he was doing and it took everything for me to restrain myself from bursting out in laughter, it was so funny/cute. We put it together that he started doing this because we had tended my aunt and uncles dog for a week and Luke must have seen us doing this to the dog and figured it was a pretty good way to get people (or animals) to come! So he has continued doing this lately, it is seriously hilarious. We haven't wanted to tell him that this is a way to call dogs and not people yet because it is too cute! We probably should do it sooner or later before he starts doing this to kids at nursery or something!
